Trevi Fountain

Continuing Wednesday, 14 May

The Trevi Fountain is enormous! We had no idea it was this big - takes up at least a full city block. It is the largest baroque fountain in Rome and one of the largest in the world. Built in 1762, its theme is taming of the waters, with Oceanus the central figure and tritons and horses on either side. Tommy did get to throw in her three coins! About 3000 euro are collected each day and go to feed Rome’s needy.
