The Spanish Steps... and Food!

Continuing Wednesday, 14 May

The Spanish Steps (Scalinata del Trinita dei Monti) is the widest staircase in Europe and climbs a steep slope with 135 steps between the piazza at the base and the church at the top. The fountain by Bernini at its base, that of a sinking boat, was under repair when we visited. We visited the Trinita dei Monti church when we reached the top.

It was a gorgeous day, as you can see, with perfect temps in the low 70s. These beautiful trees all over the city are umbrella pines, or stone pines, from which we get our delicious pine nuts!

Our day ended with a 5-course dinner in the hotel, where the chef prepared our pasta in the dining room. Delicioso!

And here are various food photos per request of a certain daughter.

If you just order wine, you get snacks free!
Lots of oil and balsamic vinegar and bread.
 Cannelloni, grilled veggies and chicken.
Tiramisu! Note the cappucino sweetener says "Dietor". That's me!

Cheeses in a shop.

More food tomorrow! Time for bed. Buono notte!
